Our Health Partnership Pharmacy Team wins PCPA Award!
The pharmacy team was formed in November 2019 when OHP had the foresight to prioritise pharmacy leadership within the organisation. We knew that to make PCN Pharmacy the backbone of the PCN clinical teams we would have to invest in them and so initially we created a Consultant Pharmacist post and welcomed Clair Huckerby into the Central Team.
Clair brought with her 25 years’ experience of working within an OHP practice as well as various other roles, and over the last 5 years has helped the team to evolve, and we now employ over 70 pharmacists and technicians in PCN and practice-based roles. All are working towards their own roadmap of development, taking fantastic paths involving Independent Prescribing, Advanced Clinical Practice, leadership qualifications, NIHR funded PHDs, and also becoming Clinical Directors.
5 years on, Pharmacists and technicians are now valued roles in general practice. OHP has been able to learn from the best and are fortunate to have been able to put very senior and experienced pharmacists into leadership positions within our team. They have transformed access and made a huge impact on improving outcomes for our patients.
This award is for each and every Pharmacist and technician and every other role which supports the pharmacy team to be the best they can be, within our organisation.
